ABOUT CRISTY BURNE

  • Cristy Burne grew up climbing trees, jumping drains, chasing cows and inventing stories. She has a passion for learning through doing and loves to inspire creativity, daring and resilience in her readers.

Cristy is a children’s author and science writer with degrees in biotechnology and science communication. She has also worked as a science circus performer, garbage analyst, Santa’s pixie, and atom-smashing reporter.

Cristy’s latest books are The Cosmic Adventure of Alice and Bob, illustrated by the amazing Aska, and To The Lighthouse, a middle grade adventure published by Fremantle Press and set on Rottnest Island.

Cristy’s Takeshita Demons books were inspired by her years living in Japan, a healthy fear of ghosts, and a plastic head she found in her rubbish bin. Takeshita Demons won the Frances Lincoln Diverse Voices Children’s Book Award for multicultural children’s writing.
