• Dana Carey joined the board of SCBWI France in 2009 working on publicity and organizing a Writer/Illustrator Retreat held in Brittany. She is now the Assistant Regional Advisor.

    Dana received a degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design from Hofstra University. She then specialized in Graphic Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and worked for many years in New York as a graphic designer/art director.

    After moving to France, Dana studied painting and life drawing while working full-time as a graphic designer in Paris. She received a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate from Rutgers University and taught English in schools such as the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles and L’Académie Charpentier in Paris where she created content-based teaching materials for a wide variety of students. Now living in Brittany, Dana dedicates as much time as possible to writing and illustrating picture books. She continues to teach English and is also a reader for international acquisitions at Seuil/La Martinière Jeunesse publishers in France.
