ABOUT TARA LAZAR

  • Street magic performer. Hog-calling champion. Award-winning ice sculptor. These are all things Tara Lazar has never been. Instead, she writes quirky, humorous picture books featuring magical places that adults never find. Her debut THE MONSTORE released in June 2013 with the Aladdin imprint of Simon & Schuster. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A BEAR BOOK is due in September 2014 from Aladdin with LITTLE RED GLIDING HOOD to follow in October 2015 from Random House Children’s. She debunks the rule “Grow Up, Be Serious” in BREAK THESE RULES, a YA anthology from Chicago Review Press. Tara is the founder of Picture Book Idea Month, or PiBoIdMo, the picture book writer’s alternative to NaNoWriMo. More than 1,100 writers participated in PiBoIdMo 2013.

Tara is represented by Ammi-Joan Paquette of the Erin Murphy Literary Agency. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, two daughters and 4,279 stuffed animals. Discover original stories, book reviews and giveaways at TaraLazar.com.
