Natalie Babbitt Remembered


The SCBWI is saddened to report that Natalie Babbitt, author of the beloved Tuck Everlasting has died. The cause was cancer. She was 84. Ms. Babbitt signature work, Tuck Everlasting, has sold over 3.5 million copies been translated into numerous languages and spawned two movies and a Broadway play. Her many other books include Kneeknock Rise which won Newbery Honors in 1961  and was a National Book Award finalist for the Devil's Storybook in 1975.

Tuck Everlasting, which deals with immortality, is a fitting tribute to Natalie Babbitt whose work extends the promise of immortality to the author herself.
