PUBLISHERS WEEKLY OFFER RENEWED
Publishers Weekly is once again offering SCBWI members a special subscription to its spring and fall children’s announcement issues. This offer is for SCBWI members only. The cost for the two issues is $20 (which includes shipping). Supplies are limited and once the spring issue is sold out no more orders will be accepted.

SUPREME COURT TO DECIDE COPYRIGHT EXTENSION
A lawsuit seeking to overturn the 1998 law that extended the term of copyright by 20 years, to 70 years plus life of authors and 95 years plus life for corporations has been heard by the US Supreme Court. The case was brought on behalf of Eric Eldred who distributes public domain books on the web. Court watchers believe that it’s unlikely the court will overturn the law. Some of the justices did seem to indicate that the law overly rewarded corporations, but they also indicated that, constitutionally, they didn’t believe they could reverse the Congressional decision.
