Leslie lives in Michigan and is co-Regional Advisor for SCBWI-MI.
Engaging kids and exciting them about reading and writing is my goal when I talk to students. I show them how ideas from their own lives can turn into stories and how we can start with bad writing and weak drawings. I go over a unique way to remember the components of a good story and we practice creating stories that way with ideas from the audience. Songs, finger plays that echo the stories follow presentations for younger kids. Some presentations incorporate drawing activities.
