I am the author of three young adult novels: THE BOYFRIEND WHISPERER (2016), which received the Romance Writers of America Young Adult Chapter’s 2015
Rosemary Award and the Virginia Chapter’s 2015 Fool for Love Award; EM & EM (2015), which was named a “Must Read for Teens” by Your Teen Magazine and has been optioned by Adolescent Content for development as a TV series; and THE FUNERAL SINGER (2013), my debut novel.
When I’m not writing YA, I work in nonprofit communications and outreach. I am very active in the SCBWI’s Mid-Atlantic Region and serve as registrar for our always fabulous Fall Conference. I am represented by Andrea Somberg of Harvey Klinger Inc.
I discuss the writing, revision, and publishing process. I also lead an interactive discussion of several themes in THE FUNERAL SINGER, including real-life vs. pop-culture heroism and the potential pros and pitfalls of an online presence. Finally, I share some things not many teens (or adults for that matter) know about funeral service.
