SCBWI brings together top professionals in the children’s publishing world twice each year at our annual Summer and Winter Conferences. These annual events feature renowned authors and illustrators as well as top editors, art directors, and agents in the field of children’s publishing. The Summer & Winter Conferences are excellent networking opportunities for those already established in and just starting to enter the world of children’s book writing and illustrating.
Annual Winter Conference in New York
(February 8 – 9, 2020)
The Annual Winter Conference is held over two days in the heart of New York City, the home of the publishing industry. Authors, illustrators, editors, agents, and marketing professionals will lead attendees in a series of in-depth craft-oriented masterclasses. The Conference also includes industry-focused panels with agents and editors, and keynote addresses from some of the year’s most acclaimed writers and illustrators. Beginning in 2018, the Golden Kite Awards Presentation has taken place on Friday evening, the first night of the Winter Conference. All Conference attendees are invited to this event.
Registration for NY20 opened in October 2019.

Annual Summer Conference in Los Angeles

The Annual Summer Conference spans three days with an optional fourth day of craft-specific intensives. The conference is held each year in Los Angeles. Registration for the 2020 Conference will commence in spring 2020. Many of the biggest authors and illustrators in children’s books will be joining a bevy of agents, art directors, and editors.
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is held every year in late March; SCBWI presents a showcase at the Bologna Book Fair. The next SCBWI showcase will be held in 2022. For more information, see our Bologna Book Fair page: www.bologna.scbwi.org
