BIPOC Scholarship– Winter Conference

 

The BIPOC Scholarship is awarded each winter to ten Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Five will be reserved for people who identify as women. This grant is generously sponsored by Christopher Paul Curtis.


 

Deadline: Submissions are now open and will close on January 30, 2021.

 

Award: Ten winners will receive the following:

–Full tuition to the 2020 SCBWI Winter Conference (February 19–February 21), including access to all Zoom Keynote Conversations, the Editors Panel, the Agents Panel, and Up-to-the-Minute Market Report.

–Illustrators will also win free tuition to the Illustrator Intensive on Monday, February 22

 

 

Guidelines:

Five scholarships will be awarded to Black, Indigenous and Women of Color, with another five for any Black, Indigenous, of Person of Color. (Ten scholarships total.) All applicants must be current SCBWI members.

Please post the following information in the submission form:

1.)  A statement about why you want to attend the conference

2.) For writers: Up to 500 words of a creative writing sample or a 500 word description of the children’s literature project you want to work on. For illustrators: two images, under 20 MG, included as .jpg or .png attachments.

3.) Mark the box if you identify as a woman. Five of the ten scholarships are reserved for women.
