I've sorted out my dragon's personality and characteristics: she's fairly brave but a bit dim and I can't figure what type of challenge she would face when learning how to scare a human.
Any thoughts?

What type of story, PB, MG...?

Would she roar? Breathe fire? Topple a child's tower? Or castle? I've always loved the idea of things backfiring. For instance, she breathes fire to scare a kid, but in reality, she helps the kid start a camp fire that he had trouble starting on his own. Stuff like that.

Vijaya, I know this is a very old thread, but I was thinking about this story: I haven't written for so long.
Thanks for the inspiration!

I don't know if you're still looking for suggestions, but your dragon might have trouble managing its size. For instance, it might want to scare a child by spreading its wings, but instead of scaring the child it accidentally knocks something down or punches a hole in a wall or shakes all the apples off a tree which then fall on its head. I missed this question the first time around and it's fun to think of possibilities.

Thundering, the dragon calls! Watch out! She just might breathe some fire onto you if you don't pay her attention. :dragonheart
Pons, you paint a vivid picture. I like it.

She could scare herself every time she tries something.

I'm just wondering: is it possible for a dragon to catch a cold?
-
Why not?!

Of course. And it could create a lot of problems when he sneezes or coughs. I think when we're in the realm of dragons just about anything you think of is possible. :star2

Since dragons are fictional and you are creating this dragon in a fictional world, you get to do whatever works for the story. Just make it consistent.

Consistency is vital, isn't it, Debbie? Children often pick the flaws much quicker than adults do.
