Title: Advice from the National Parks Service?
Post by: bob-miller on November 02, 2021, 11:44 AM
Hello,
Are there any SCBWI members with connections to the National Parks Service?  I'm hoping to find a ranger willing to give advice on a story that takes place at a national park, and/or a ranger who would review the story to ensure the integrity of the National Parks Service.
Thank you,
Bob Miller

Hi Bob,

I'm not connected in the way you suggest, but I have had lots of experience cold-emailing folks from park services, universities, and departments of conservation about a variety of things book-related, and they've all been super helpful. You might try that, using their contact page, if you can't find a name.

Good luck!

Jody

Look for a PR Department or Customer Experience Department. They can often point you in the right direction. You'll want a ranger with experience at the specific park you're referencing, so you might try that park's ranger station.

Good advice from Debbie. The PR person at Mammoth Cave National Park was super helpful to me!

Yes, you may want to contact a park directly and see you can round up to help you.
