I'm so excited to co-host PBParty along with Sharon and Michelle this year!

We have 11 amazing agents and 5 awesome editors lined up so far.
One editor is a secret Ninja...only requests will find out who this is. I will share that the editor is from a wonderful PAL publisher.

You can check out the agents and editors here: http://www.michelle4laughs.com/2019/03/2019-picture-book-party-agents-and.html

E-mail up to two submissions on March 19 at 4pm EST (the window will stay open for at least an hour). We have a sweet surprise for author/illustrators this year, so if you also illustrate, please don't forget to attach an illustration for your manuscript!

The top 20 (or so) entries will be posted on Michelle's blog for the agent/editor round on March 27 - 29.

If you're an unagented PB writer or author/illustrator, I hope you'll participate! And everyone is welcome to join the #PBParty Twitter party where we'll be celebrating picture books and sharing responses to fun questions. We've had some great ones suggested in the comments of our announcement post: http://www.michelle4laughs.com/2019/02/picture-book-party-2019.html

If you have any other suggestions, you can share it on the announcement post or here. And please feel free to ask me any questions.

Good luck, everyone! Sharon, Michelle and I can't wait to read your entries--and hope the agents and editors will find tons of gems.  :goodluckflower

I did not see the button for follow the blog, and I don't do twitter.  The last time I signed up for the blog was about two years ago would that still be considered a follower because I'd like to enter this contest.

A reply would be appreciated.

If you scroll all the way down, there's a follow button on the lower right of Michelle's blog.

We want to make sure you're able to see all the contest updates. If the follow button doesn't work for you, then check Michelle's blog on Tuesday and again for the announcement of the entries that will be in the final round--that will probably be up around Saturday depending on how long it takes the three of us to decide. I have a feeling it'll be tough narrowing the submissions down!

Thanks, I scrolled all the way down, but all I saw was subscribe to post not a follow button at all.

That's because the middle section is now longer than the right section. If you scroll up from the bottom you'll see it when the column on the right is visible again
or Ctrl-F to open a search and look for pageview

I have never participated before.  Are you required to sign-up for the blog to participate?

And please feel free to ask me any questions.

This is so exciting, can't believe I've missed PBParty in the past. Should we designate whether we prefer an agent or an editor? Just thinking it might make a difference which manuscripts to submit, something already shopped a bit, or only brand new ones. If both an agent and an editor request your work, what do you do? Decisions, decisions! Thanks, Mindy and Sharon!

I hope the PBParty folks won't mind me chiming in with answers. Since submissions are due tomorrow, I thought it might be helpful.

Hopeful, you don't have to sign up, but it does help to follow either the blog or Twitter feed. The party part is on Twitter, so you miss the fun without that. I don't follow the blog, but I do check it when I know the event is getting close. The participants are posted there.

Marcia, since the chosen submissions also appear on the blog, I don't think choosing agent or editor makes sense. Last year's selections are still accessible to anyone who wants to check them out. All of the participating industry folks can see any selections. You can decide what to submit based on who is participating though.

Please note, I've only participated once so this is just my understanding based on that and reading everything.

Thanks for jumping in, Debbie! Your suggestions are spot on.

If both an agent and an editor request--you can send to both. If an editor offers, you can thank them and reach out to agents with your manuscript before officially saying yes, or you can sell the book unagented and keep searching for an agent for the rest of your books.

Since some people aren't on Twitter, I'm going to post some tips and teasers on Facebook. The Twitter part should be a lot of fun though! The community is amazing and we have awesome questions ready for all of you. They'll be on Michelle's blog today and I'll have a graphic for each question on Twitter.

Thanks for the tech help, Dave!

I sent a PBParty submission to SunversusSnow@yahoo.com a little after 4PM, but I didn't receive a confirmation.  Has anyone who submitted received a confirmation?

Hopeful, have you sent a message to either Mindy or Michelle about this? Send it with the book title and they should be able to tell you if they have it.  They were very helpful to me this afternoon when my emails bounced back.

Quite a few people didn't receive a confirmation this time. I'm not sure if it's the number of entries that did it--we surpassed last year within the first 5 - 10 minutes and ended up with 818 entries! If it's not in Spam, give me the title/s and I'll check for you. :)
