Looking for suggestions: Picture books about horses?

Discussion started on

Would love your suggestions of picture books about horses (or ponies) for my 3.5 year old daughter. Beautiful illustrations are a plus. Both fiction and NF suggestions welcome. Thank you!

(Edited to add: feel free to suggest your own book! As you can imagine, as a writer with a daughter who loves books on a certain topic, we already have most of the titles that come up on a google search of "horse picture books" etc. so I'd love to hear new titles!)

Thank you, JulieM! That looks like an exciting book and from the cover it seems to have the type of horse illustrations she loves!

I can't help myself......I'm going  to suggest my book "A Horse Named Steve" It has quirky illustrations and is great for reading out loud.

I know this post is from a few years back but if you're daughter is still into horses (which typically once you love horses you always love horses) I thought I'd share with you my favorite I found last year while doing a Cowgirl Up story time:  IF I HAD A HORSE by Gianna Marino  (c) 2018
I have a few other suggestions in my blog post about Cowgirl books you can find here: https://kids-book-talk.blogspot.com/2018/07/cowgirl-books.html

Fritz and the Beautiful Horses by Jan Brett.  Your daughter might be past simple counting books, but One Horse Waiting for Me by Patricia Mullins goes up to 12, rhymes nicely, and has stunning illustrations.  And I see that Susan Jeffers was already mentioned, but she really does have a ton of books for horse lovers.    We have an out of print version of All the Pretty Little Horses by her that’s somewhat dated, but quirky and very imaginative.
