New!
How should I prepare back matter for a F/NF picture book  for subbing? Should I just label it as such in the text or put it on a separate page? Should I count that in the word count? Thank you to anyone who responds! Update: Should a writer send a list of references to publishers with their cover letter and ms that support NF elements in their story?

Kenneth, I always put the back-matter for fiction in a separate section (not necessarily separate page) labeled as such with its own word count. I'm not consistent about mentioning it in my cover letter, but either way, it gets read. Funny thing, I've had a couple of editors want the back matter developed into a book. Good luck with your submissions.

What Vijaya said. Put it after the text, labeling it "Back Matter" or something like that. You do not need to include it in the word count of the book.

Agree with above - I have a section at the end labelled Back matter, with its own word count.
