All right, I am a tech-dooffus. But as I have noticed a couple of BBs with Verla-smilies next to their signature, and the forum settings says you can add them, I have tried. And tried. And tried again after some  :coffee. All in vain.

It's either no longer do-able, or it's something so simple and obvious that even I would manage not to do it.

Help~~~  :drowning:

There may be an easier way.

I choose the smiley I want.   :proud

I copy it.

I go to my profile and paste.

Forgive this, ShirleyH, but when I tried, all I got was the code (lots of letters and words) and not the image. :lightning: Also- the only way I could copy the smiley was to open a Reply to another thread. Is there a way to access this smiley that I want to copy directly? Maybe this is what went wrong.

P.S. I'm proud of *you* for doing it so seamlessly here!

I didn't explain that well at all.
I open a reply to another thread, select the image, and then copy the code. Then I go to profile and paste it in.
Somebody else may know a more direct way.

That's what I did, Shirley. What I got was the code showing, not the smiley. (I checked.)
Could this be working for you because you are an administrator?

I'll check and see if I can make a smiley show up on your profile.

It works when I added a smiley.
If you PM me I'll add what you want to your profile. I chose one randomly for the testing.

Is anyone else having trouble adding a smiley to their signature line? (If you wanted one.)

Let me know, and I'll try to help.

ShrleyH did it! Now my signature has lightening right next to The Voice of Thunder... They go together, don't you think?
I still don't know how to successfully do it  myself, but I can call on ShirleyH  :flower
 :thankyou

Same here, I'm a newbie and those dancing icons above the message box have mystified me. The only thing I've figured out is the colon & parenthesis thing, like in emails, and it happens to turn into a smile like this :-)

If you click on one of the smilies, you'll see it appear as code in your message, like this (but without the space):  : fireworks and if you click preview, you can see it in the box at the top of your screen (or just post and see it turn into an actual smilie). :fireworks  You can also hover over them and see the name, then add a colon followed by the name.
