My publisher just asked for my thoughts on whether to do an ebook version of a chapter book I illustrated that was published this September. Would very much appreciate any thoughts from those with experience in this area. FYI: This is a traditional publisher; small but with generally good sales.

Scott, the publisher would only need to reformat the book for electronic sales. Given that many parents allow their kids to be on computers and tablets and even phones, I'd think it's a good idea to cover all the bases. But in general, I think kids learning to read do better with printed books, the way they track reading with their finger, flipping the pages, it's such a physical experience. A couple of my publishers also produced audio and interactive versions.

I'm somewhat surprised to hear that your publisher does not routinely offer ebook versions of all of their books, if only via the Amazon Kindle program.  You might point them to the Epic! program, which licences many books (from picture book to novel) from publishers, and presents them in an easy-to-use app...  ( https://www.getepic.com )
