Great news re Scholastic. I read the opening chapter on your blog and thought it was terrific. Looking forward to buying the final product. Admittedly, I haven't kept up with the whole backstory, but I noted at the end of the excerpt that it was reprinted by permission of Houghton Mifflin. Curious minds need to know...

Congrats, Dianna! So cool that they've got interest from their book fairs!!!!!

Wow! This took longer than I thought it would, but I since I received an official welcome letter from my new editor, I think it's safe to finally share my good news. My second middle grade, True As Steel, has sold to Jody Corbett at Scholastic. She said the Scholastic book fairs are especially excited by it, so that's pretty cool. More info about True As Steel, including the first chapter is available on my site if anyone wants to know more. But in a nutshell, it revolves around twelve year old Poppy, a young girl whose world is turned upside down when the grandma who's raised her ends up in a nursing home, the police detective Poppy gets involved with, and the beautiful German Shepherd, Gunner, she's trying to save. What else could you possibly need to know.  :woo :bananadance :broccoli

Oh, my goodness! You're right! I had no idea it had been attributed to Harcourt. I'll be sure to let my web host know right away to change it. A Smidgen of Sky is from Harcourt, so when I sent the sample of TAS to her, it somehow was attributed to Harcourt as well. Glad you noticed!

After much back and forth between my editor, agent and myself, True As Steel has an official new title: A Million Ways Home. It fits the story and has a lyrical kind of sound to it, but it will still take a bit of getting used to. Just wanted to share.  :flower

It *IS* a good title, Diana. It's evocative and says plenty in... three+ words.

I know what you mean abut getting used to what has been on your desk-top and mind for so long as one thing... But A MILLION WAYS HOME is still true as steel for this story. :flowers2
