I'm working on a dark comedy pilot and need a name for an ostentatious Chinese restaurant. I don't wish to be rude or disrespectful so it's a challenge. Any ideas out there for me? :thankyou

Hmmm....I'm not sure this fits the bill, but when I think of valuable antiques, a vase from the Ming Dynasty comes to mind. So maybe something with "Ming Dynasty" in the name would evoke, "I'm so fancy"??

There is a Chinese restaurant near us named The Dragon House. Well known and upscale - at least it used to be. I haven't been there for years.

How about The Oriental Palace? Or The Dragon Palace?
-
I like Dragon Palace. It's one step up from Dragon House in ostentation. :grin3 Hmmm, unless "house" has connotations in Chinese that I am unaware of, which is completely possible.

A vote for Dragon Palace!!!

Dragon Palace! I like it - I'll suggest it in the next draft. Thanks all, as usual this place is great.

Just a note, I think Oriental is one of those terms that's been classified as exoticising (if that's a word). I wouldn't use it unless the plot were set when the term was common.
