New to using forums? Here's a quick how-to to help you get started.
1. How do I add a post to an existing topic?
Click on the dark blue REPLY button below the last post in the topic. That will open a box for you to type your message in. When you're finished typing your response, click on the POST button at the lower right below the message box and your message will appear at the bottom of the thread.
2. How do I start a new topic?
Once you've chosen the best board for your new topic (read the quickie board descriptions on the main page to help you decide), click on the Board title. You'll be sent to a list of all the topics in that board; at the top right-hand side of the list is a blue NEW TOPIC button. Click on that, put in a descriptive title for your post (e.g. "Need help with title" or "Useful article on query letters"), and type your post in the text box, then click POST at lower right.
3. How do I personalize my profile?
At the top of any page, click on "PROFILE" in the line of commands. In the dropdown menu that will appear, click on "modify profile", then click on "forum profile." On that page are places where you can add an avatar, text to accompany it, and a signature line where you can add info like your website or blog URL or publications.
4. How do I contact a moderator?
At the top of any page, click on the "Contact a Moderator" button in the line of commands.
5. How do I do a search?
At the top of the page (right below your header) is a list of buttons. The fifth one from the left is the 'search' button. Use key words to search and see if topics have already been discussed.
