Hello,
I had someone request a book today. She is looking for an all-school read for an elementary school. The theme she would like to highlight is kindness. The school mascot is a dog, so a story with a dog in it would be a great fit. Have any of the Blueboarders written such a title? Or perhaps read one?

This might not be what you're looking for but No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman is about a boy who is sick and tired of dogs dying at the end of too many novels and movies. He writes an unfavorable book report about a book where the dog dies and won't back down when his teacher wants him to change it. This makes it sound pretty heavy, but it really isn't.

Pons, your comment about "no more dead dog books" reminded me of Cynthia's book Dog Gone. I won this book in a contest and I had to make sure the dog doesn't die because After The Red Fern Grows, the kids were so upset (my husband stopped reading before the dogs die, but Max could see there was more left so read it by himself and then told Dagny the rest of it--tears, tears, tears).

V, the end of Where the Red Fern Grows just about did me in, too, and I read it as an adult.
