Just finished THE SENSE OF AN ENDING, by Julian Barnes, elegant, insightful prose that reminds me of THE ENGLISH PATIENT and ATONEMENT.  Now I can't wait to get BRING UP THE BODIES, by Hilary Mantel, the sequel to the dazzling WOLF HALL.

Shannywriter, I recently met Lindsey Ward at a bookfair and got a copy of WHEN BLUE MET EGG. She was wonderful, and so is the book. She told me all about the illustrations, really making me see things I wouldn't have otherwise---fascinating!

Cool! I noticed the artwork on my second read-through! It has inspired an art lesson I'll do with my class!

In the past couple weeks, I read John Green's AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES (which I really enjoyed) and then devoured THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy.  I just finished MOCKINGJAY.  Now I need some time to process and recover.

I'm halfway through GRAVE MERCY by Robin LaFevers and it is so awesome it leaves me breathless. Not just for fans of historicals - it's so great that it will probably speak to most readers.

Tori, I bought Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies today, when it went on sale, in anticipation of being able to read it when my grades are turned in. It's just the push I need! And CynJay, everything I hear about it makes me think I'd better get a copy of Grave Mercies!

I just checked out THE DISAPPEARING SPOON AND OTHER TRUE TALES OF MADNESS, LOVE, AND THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD FROM THE PERIODIC TABLE OF ELEMENTS. I've read three pages and already I'm hooked. If I'm going to read science, I want it all entertaining like this.

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, so far I prefer Delirium. But I'm only half-way through.

Just finished When Blue Met Egg by Lindsey Ward (PB- I teach kindergarten) And I cried! I love it.

I MUCH preferred Delirium. Agreed!

I've just read:

Endure - FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! There are not enough exclamation points.
Magic Study - the first half of the book is really awesome. Not sure if I should try the next book now. Anyone?
Assassin and the Underworld - love these novellas. Can't wait for Throne of Glass!

I'm reading Maggie S.'s Scorpio Races again because I loved it and I had nothing else in my TBR pile that was calling to me (not like those creepy horses anyway). Finding things I missed the first time. I love it!  :

Shanny, I read the library's copy of Scorpio Races twice, and ended up buying my own copy so I could make notes in the margins. SUCH an awesome book!!

Just finished (and loved) The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. Next up is Getting Over Garrett Delaney by Abby McDonald.

Finished reading and writing a review for Ann Redisch Stampler's WHERE IT BEGAN. Don't let the dreamy cover decieve you. This is a fine YA novel. I was completely engrossed.

Now I'm in the middle of Colin Meloy's WILDWOOD, and have to admit that I'm surprisingly intrigued.

You guys are gonna laugh, but right now I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Because I need to disappear from the world so I won't think about certain things that I'm WAITING to hear back about.

I find GoF is the best HP book for this kind of thing. It's so chock full of detail and twisty and well, just perfect for a half-looney writer in need of escape.

My daughter just had a birthday which was wonderful because I could give her a stack of books that I want to read!  I'm about to start on Sarah Pennypacker's The Summer of the Gypsy Moths.  I just read a great review of it in the New York Times, and I'm excited to dig in.

Well I just finished reading The Summer of the Gypsy Moths (lounging in a hammock on a gorgeous sunny Sunday) and I loved this book.  It is funny, heartbreaking and just plain wonderful.
