Anyone have any guesses?  I believe they're coming up next Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if A FACE LIKE GLASS gets something.

ORPHAN ISLAND for Newbery recognition?

I'd love to see FOREVER OR A LONG LONG TIME by Caela Carter get something, too.

I haven't a clue. I haven't read as many of the contenders this year...

I just realized this applies to me, too. I think I spent a lot of this year rereading favorites.

I did too! I wonder what it was about this past year that caused that? Hmm....

I have no good guesses this year, but am always super excited to see what wins, and then to analyze after. :-)

Looking at the NBA Longlist, I wouldn't be surprised to see any of those titles on some lists!

Looking forward to seeing the results. Like most everyone else who posted, I haven't kept up this year and have been reading 'older' stuff.

But some of the titles themselves look intriguing....

This explains why I can't find the list!   :dr

I'll be surprised if The Hate U Give does not get some recognition. Other than that, I've not any thoughts. Looking forward to the announcements.   :writing3

Just circling back to this conversation--we'll be hearing the announcements shortly, but "A Face Like Glass" can't win a Newbery since the author is not a US citizen or resident. I believe there are similar limitations on other ALA awards.

I went to Amazon and bought the winner. Only $7 (Kindle), but they'll probably raise the price now.

I certainly have a list of books to read now.

Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut
was an honor winner for the Newbery, Caldecott, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards. I don't remember this happening before, especially qualifying for both Newbery and Caldecott. Time to look up some books. Congratulations to all the winners!

eta: Thanks for the link, Anne.  :thankyou

Yes, another book (Long Way Down) was honored with Newbery, Coretta Scott King, and Printz awards--go figure.

I guess it's O.K. But I wish they'd spread the awards around more.

Yay, Salina!  But then, we all know how talented she is.
