Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can provide me some good book comps.
My book is in 1st person, about a gifted, sweet, deeply curious, on-the-spectrum child with a huge imagination who loves creative writing—writing in his diary, he tells stories and draws characters that seem to leap off the page. Well, one day, they
do leap off the page, and actually come to life, leading him to a magical school, where he learns to find his "Me"—the thing that makes each person unique. With his new-found sense of self and superpower, and a little help from his friends, he defeats an ancient evil, and achieves world peace.
The book is full of characters from all across world mythology.
I'm having the most trouble finding books told from a 1st person, diary-like perspective. And, although there are many "magical school" books, I can't think of one that is "created" like this from the mind of a child. I think the mythology aspect of it is the easy part!
Would love to hear your recs! I've heard Dory Fantasmagory before, but this is more MG, and I dare say "Harry Potter"-like -- though it is a school of Imagination, created from the mind of a child.
Thank you!
