Title: Design-based PBs

I was talking to a friend who's a graphic designer and is interested in PBs that play with form, color, and design as central to their story. I grew up with Th e Dot and the Line, for instance. That's the kind of book I mean, or one that takes a shape or form and repeats it throughout the book in various guises, or like the one about the crayons who write letters to the kid who uses them, which is all about color.

Check out Tana Hoban, Lois Ehlert, Eric Carle, and Denise Fleming also. And a couple of new books dealt with shapes as characters, but the names are slipping my mind. Someone will know. And the classic Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crocket Johnson is good too.

Øyvind Torseter's "The Hole" might be an option, too. :)
