Hi, I live in North Carolina and I never received a rejection notification. I assumed that since they needed more submissions for NC, that mine did not make it. I am reluctant to submit stories in future contests since I did not hear back. Also, I do not want to jeopardize my chance of winning (however slight) by submitting my story somewhere else. Please let me know if there is an update and/or a winner in North Carolina? Thank you

Hi Christine,

Unfortunately, the Blueboard staff has nothing to do with the contest. I know winners were announced for some states in a prior Insight, but they don't seem to have updated. Considering how long the first set took, I suspect they aren't done yet, but you'd have to email headquarters to find out for sure.

Nothing here either.  Not sure what to suggest about submitting the story elsewhere yet. Had you submitted as part of the first round back in 2020 or whenever it was, or did you just do the call for submissions in March?

Just this last round, in March. Still seems like a long wait, no?! But if we haven't heard and there's been no official announcement yet, then...?!

 I know. It seems like a long time to me too, and it's sort of weird that after the flurry of activity in April it's been silent again, but I'm new to trade publishing and don't know if this is just what deadlines are like in this world. Given how long the first round took I'd let a little more time pass before submitting out. It's probably a little late for October magazine deadlines at this point, anyway. Maybe someone with more experience can offer advice on the etiquette of this situation?
