Marketing people are using people's SCBWI profiles to market services and some are scams. Beware of offers to do a podcast, illustrate something with an immediate overpayment in which they ask you to return the difference, and anything asking for money or offering things out of the blue that seem too good to be true.

Yep, got the offer about the podcast a few days ago, initially got excited, but then realized it was very generic and they were asking for $.
