Any reccomendations for MG books where a parent is dealing with PTSD? Or depression?

I have Nicole Telget's The End of the Wild on my to read list.

Pax has a character with PTSD but its not the parent.

I feel  like I've read one or two in the past year, but I can't call them to mind. So I'm commenting so I'll get reminded about this ...

Or I might be thinking of YA, where I think this is more common. You might find them useful as mentor texts, if that's what you are seeking--you could think about how you would do it differently. Laurie Halse Anderson's "The Incredible Knife of Memory" is one I've read.

The mom in IT'S RAINING CUPCAKES by Lisa Schroeder has bipolar disorder perhaps?

The dad in A CROOKED KIND OF PERFECT by Linda Urban has anxiety perhaps?

The mom in NEST by Esther Ehrlich commits suicide after being diagnosed with a disease.

I hope that helps! In general, since the books are from the MG age protagonists' povs, they may not always know exactly what is going on with their parents unless there are explicit conversations.

In BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE the mom had a drinking problem and was likely struggling with depression, but the reader only gets to see it thru the father's eyes because the mom left before the story started.

Im not familiar with any MC with PTSD in MG. "Some
kind of Happiness" by Clair Legrand has a MC with depression/anxiety.

I kinda think Okay for Now, by Gary Schmidt might touch on PTSD. It's historical, set during the Vietnam war, and the MC has a brother in the war and his teacher has a son in the war. It's not the main theme and is only lightly touched on. But, the book is worth the read, no matter what. Anything by Gary Schmidt is worth the read, IMHO.     :reading

I can't think of any other MG titles, but for a YA: Terry Farish's  "Either the Beginning of the End of the World" has a character with PTSD.
