For younger readers (4-8) I have a picture book at Barnes and Noble that is inexpensive. There are several stuffed horses that you can buy separately. The editor sent me one of them to serve as an inspiration piece - also inexpensive and very cuddly but I think the animals are only in the store - couldn't find them online:
A Pony to Love (illustrated by Mary Morgan who lives in Paris) at Barnes and Noble:

Well, on my book it says, "12 and up", but I think 10 and 11 year olds would enjoy it too, so that's why I didn't specify.

Thanks for starting the list, Donna J. I would think my book is only news to the newcomers to the blue board, as I blabbed about it plenty when it came out in 2003.
Bark And Tim: A True Story of Friendship, by Audrey Glassman Vernick and Ellen Glassman Gidaro, illustrations by Tim Brown
What Faith Ringgold had to say: “A traditional tale of a boy and his dog painted by a wonderful folk artist, Tim Brown. It is simple, beautiful and touching. We learn that life goes on and fond childhood memories should always be treasured. Children of all ages will want to read it again and again.”

Funny, Aud! I've blabbed like crazy this year. lol!
This way all the books will be more easily found. And you bring up a good point, the book doesn't necessarily have to have been published this year. It only needs to be available!

Title: Golden
Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Level: Young Adult
Categories: chick lit, supernatural
Summary: When Lissy James moves from California to Oklahoma, she finds herself in the middle of a teenage nightmare: a social scene to rival a Hollywood movie. And if understanding the hierarchy of the Goldens vs. the Nons isn’t hard enough, Lissy’s ever growing Aura Vision is getting harder and harder to hide, and if she’s not careful, she’s going to become a Non faster than you can say “freak.”
But it’s becoming clear that Emory High has a few secrets of its own. Around the halls, the term “special powers” goes way beyond one’s ability to attract the opposite sex, and there may be something more evil than the A-crowd lurking in the classrooms. Lissy can see a lot more than the average girl, but she’s about to learn the hard way that things aren’t always as they appear and you can’t always judge a girl by her lip gloss.

First of all, I just want to say THANK YOU to all who read this board and support those of us who have books out. I truly mean it when I say, it touches me when someone says in chat or on the board or in an e-mail - hey, I bought your book today. I try to buy a book a month from people around here, and I LOVE my collection, I have to say.
Thank you, Donna, for doing this.
Title: Baby Can't Sleep
Written by Lisa Schroeder, Illustrated by Viviana Garofoli
Level: Picture book
Publishers Weekly says: First-time author Schroeder embraces a universal parental woe in a charming tale about luring baby off to dreamland. Her playful singsong rhymes seem to suggest that even the job of getting baby to sleep can be fun. Drawing upon a time-honored insomnia cure-all, she incorporates a fun twist to counting sheep (one to 10), "Bet you can't believe your eyes./ One sheep chasing fireflies." Here is where the story truly takes off: in Garfoli's (Zoom Zoom Zoom) imaginative drawings, a plush sheep springs to life and inspires a host of amusing adventures ("On the street I see five sheep./ Look, they're riding in a jeep!/ Six sheep playing basketball./ Wow, those sheep are really tall!"). The story comes full circle when the family pooch manages to calm the inconsolable baby by producing the toy sheep ("Silly sheep just love to play./ But even sheep must end their day"). This book is just right for the parent-to-be who does not yet know to relish those precious hours of uninterrupted sleep. Ages 2-4. (Dec.)

HOW WILL I EVER SLEEP IN THIS BED? (Sterling Publishing, 2005)
by Della Ross Ferreri
From the publisher:
The adjustment from crib to big-kid bed can be a bit scary.
But with a little imagination and lots of plush toys, the transition can be a smooth one.
It's time to make that move to a big-kid bed--but one little boy feels a teeny-bit intimidated. The bed seems so HUGE and empty. Who better to help fill the space than his endearing and cuddly stuffed animal friends? He tucks in his tiger, kangaroo, bear, sheep and more, but now that the bed is filled, is there any room left for him? This is one adorably funny bedtime story young children will love!

Fun topic!!
I'm happy to announce that the third book in THE SEER series, WITCH BALL is now available.
A 3-book set of THE SEER might make a good gift for anyone who enjoys reading about supernatural mysteries or is a fan of TV shows like GHOST WHISPERER and MEDIUM.
I have lots of background and gossipy information about THE SEER and my writing on my blog at www.LiveJournal.com/users/LindaJSingleton

What a great idea!
I've lost count of how many Blue Borders are in Blooming Tree Press' anthology, MISTLETOE MADNESS. Els did the adorable cover and she and Agy did some of the illustrations. There are stories and poetry by Linda Joy, Trish, Dystar, Ponytail Mom, and me, (did I miss anyone?) It's a nice collection and the first printing sold out last year. There are fresh copies available for this Christmas, though. :)

Hi, Ev! I tried to get those to come up on the Amazon Listmania, but the SKU number won't work. Sorry! You have a GREAT list of books!
Donna
-
I'd love to add mine to the list as well, but you can't get them from Amazon. They have to be purchased directly from the publisher. And you have to buy them in a set. :( Even I can't buy individual copies. In any case, on my website, I've made links to Perfection Learning on the covers of the books. They are great for teachers to use in a classroom.
It's really fun to see all our books on Amazon like this. Cool. Very cool.

Wow! Great lists...I've already bought 2 pb's for my son (covered wagons and iron horses) and one YA for me (Witch ball)! I'll add reviews after I read em'. Great post!
-
Hey, THANKS, mcm. If you will email LindaJoy and I privately, we'll both send you signed bookplates for the books. (I can speak for Linda, here. I know her well enough to know she loves to send out signed bookplates.) Oh, and just for the record, I DID finally find my bookplates, so I'm all ready to mail them out to anyone who needs one. Just tell me what book you want dedicated to what person and I'll go from there!

Cover for this book and summary is available on my web site: http://www.jeff-sampson.com/books_wizardsbetrayal.htm
And if you DO buy this book, it might be a good idea to get the first book of the trilogy, too, even though it's not written by a blue boarder: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0786937947/ref=pd_cmp_rvi_3_i/102-6079476-8534502?n=283155
I made a Wikipedia entry about the series, for any of you confused about the weird volume numbers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonlance:_The_New_Adventures
Enough links for ya? Heh. Anyway, that's it so far. I also have a trilogy coming out starting Sept. 2006, just in time for next year's holidays.... ;)
-
Jeff, I added your books!
And Verla makes a good point - if you want your books personalized, email the authors to ask if they have bookplates. I'm sure those who do will be glad to send them - including me! ;D
I'll continue to add books even after the holidays as these Listmania Lists can be used all year long for birthdays and special occasions.
And to those who've emailed me to say thanks - you're welcome! It's been my pleasure to see the fruit of all our labor! I'm honored that I've been able to join the ranks of published authors this year, and happy to facilitate a way we can support each other.
Donna

MCM--Thanks for buying my book, WITCH BALL! And you'll love Verla's books. Her picture books should become classics, they're so great.
Jeff, great to see you posting, too.

Well, I'm a little late (slow on the uptake) but here's the Amazon link to Pieces of Another World:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0976494329/qid=1128088003/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-8559385-6207964?n=507846&s=books&v=glance
It's about a girl named Jody whose father wakes her up in the middle of the night and takes her out to see, as he says, "pieces of another world." To Jody, everything about this unfamiliar nighttime world is new and thrilling. Maybe so, her father says, but that is not the sight he's taking her to see--until, at last, a streak of white cuts through the sky, and Jody finds herself in the midst of her first meteor shower.

I am really, really late to this post too . . . but maybe for future reference . . .
My book is The Three Grumpies. Here is the Amazon Link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1582348405/qid=1078750804/ref=pd_ka_1/103-6820301-3372612?n=507846&s=books&v=glance
Or you can e-mail me through my website www.thethreegrumpies.com. I have signed hardcover and paperback copies to sell from my campground store.
The Three Grumpies is about a girl who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. The Grumpies follow her around all day, until she figures out how to get rid of them.
I love to see a list like this every now and again . . . especially when we're shopping!
-
Tamra, you're added!
And don't forget, authors and illustrators, we can still add to this list all year long!
Donna
-
Okay, everyone! I'm bringing this back to your attention to see if there are any new books I should add. Let me know!
Donna

Mine is out now, Donna. ;D Multiplying Menace: The Revenge of Rumpelstiltskin
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1570918899/sr=1-1/qid=1138726224/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3704594-7865420?%5Fencoding=UTF8
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1570918902/ref=ed_oe_p/103-3704594-7865420?%5Fencoding=UTF8
Rumpelstiltskin is back! This time he's making mischief with his multiplying stick. Can Peter unlock the secret of the stick in time to save the kingdom? Whimsical illustrations bring fun to multiplying whole numbers and fractions.
Thanks!

I'm new to the list, and just discovered this thread but if it's still happening I have two books.
Mr. Touchdown, a YA novel about the desegregation of a Memphis high school in 1965.
Information about it on my site: http://lydaphillips.com/_wsn/page2.html
Available at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0595672884/qid=1123715457/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl14/104-9752870-7155959?n=507846&s=books&v=glance
and http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=aa7EddwBBW&isbn=0595359000&itm=1
Also Peace I Ask of Thee, Oh River, an edgier YA about bullying at a girls' camp that takes a tragic turn.
http://lydaphillips.com/_wsn/page3.html
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0595361722/ref=ed_oe_p/104-9752870-7155959?s=ebooks&st=%2A&v=glance&n=283155
B&N: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=aa7EddwBBW&isbn=0595361722&itm=1
I love this list!
-
I'm new to the boards but would love to add my two if possible:
Tears of a Friend: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0237527316/sr=8-2/qid=1150889387/ref=sr_1_2/102-9726436-4980952?%5Fencoding=UTF8 it's a 'reluctant reader' for teenagers who have a low reading age. So, YA but in 6000 words and no complex sentences!
Moondance, a picture book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1842703242/sr=8-1/qid=1150889440/ref=sr_1_1/102-9726436-4980952?%5Fencoding=UTF8 but annoyingly the US site has no picture of the front cover. I don't know why this should be, given that there is a cover image on the UK site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1842703242/qid=1150889500/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl/203-2171050-1863910 of course I am in the UK so that's why it was published there first.

Donna, I am taking the plunge, since somebody from here asked me this week:

THE MINER'S DAUGHTER is now available! I've been fortunate thus far with prepub reviews. Kirkus called it a "a story that puts a human face on poverty, prejudice and dreams....a fine coming of age story." And SLJ said it was an "excellent novel" with "fully realized characters."
So I can relax the TINIEST bit....
http://www.amazon.com/Miners-Daughter-Gretchen-Moran-Laskas/dp/1416912622/sr=8-4/qid=1169763449/ref=sr_1_4/103-1526437-9891844?ie=UTF8&s=books
-
How cool for you, Gretchen! Then it should be hitting my store's shelves any minute...
I've got an ARC of The Miner's Daughter on the very top of my to-be-read pile. I'm catching up on my 2007 Newbery & Printz winners at the moment, but I'll let you know how I like it very soon.
-
Whew! I'm caught up...I think! :faint:
Lots of good news lately! Congrats to everyone!
Donna
-
Sarah -- you have an ARC? Wow. Even as the author, I only got two!!! :)
I'm really looking forward to your novel. Unlike everyone else I know, I learned about Helen Keller's story not through the film or her memoir, but from a small children's paperback called HELEN KELLER'S TEACHER. I found the parts about Annie Sullivan in Boston perhaps even more gripping than when she moves to Alabama. A novel on this subject is a GREAT idea!
-
It's my turn. :dancing:
Andrea Carter and the Dangerous Decision, Book 2 of the Circle C Adventures.
Susan K. Marlow
January 31, 2007 Kregel Publications
Ages 8-12; tween historical fiction set in 1880s California.
Horses, Adventure, and the Old West! :horse
Here's the link that tells about the book and sends you to amazon, etc.:

Susan, I know several girls who would be perfect for your book. They LOVE horses. THEY LOVE THEM. (They're always telling me this.) And they are still young enough that they still need a historical novel for their book reports. Yours look perfect!
Good luck with it,
Gretchen
-
Gretchen,
Thanks for your encouragement. Feel free to send any of those horse lovin' gals to my link--or to the local or on-line bookstores to order them.
Big Hug! :hug1:

I was just looking through this thread before we leave for the U.S. this week so that I could order some "surprise" books for my kids to open when we get to grandma and grandpa's house, and I saw that people have included their anthologies...so here's mine!

I'm caught up...had to start list #3! :eek5: So far, this list has only three books, so if you want to be added, let me know. It seems like once school starts, Christmas is here before we can turn around. Plus, I'm hoping we are using this list for birthdays, too.

Hey Donna.
Not sure if you're still updating the Listmania Blue Boarders Books list #3.
When I first added my second book, Don't Get It Twisted I did not have the Amazon link. But now I do and it just hit me that I never provided it. It's too late for holiday ordering, but if you're in any sort of continuous update mode, here it is.
Thanks!

I don't have a book to add to the list, but love the subject and have added several books to my must read list. Thanks.

Hola, Donna! :love
Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity to add to your list. It feels great to be in such good company. :broccoli
Would you please add my Across the Wide River sequel to the list? Here's the back cover copy from The Light Across the River and the Amazon.com link:
Why couldnt Father see how wrong it was to keep quiet? It seemed so simple to Johnny. If only people could know how horrible slavery was! If only they knew the great risks men took to be free!
Its 1837 and the Rankin home continues to be a beacon of freedom along the Underground Railroad. Johnny, the seventh of the thirteen Rankin children, is eager to help his family in their fight for freedom, but his father and his older brother, Lowry, tell him he is too young to keep a secret as important as the Underground Railroad. Johnny knows he should keep his mouth shut, but he cares so much about what his family does that he cant keep quiet.
Unexpectedly, Johnny finds himself in a position to help a woman named Eliza escape to the North. Will he be able to help her to freedom, or will he let the wrong secret slip out at the wrong time? This intense and touching sequel to Across the Wide River offers another glimpse into a dark period of Americas past, and profiles the courageous and godly people who helped bring slavery to an end.
This book has everythinghistory, action, suspense, adventureall nicely blended in a page-turning story of real people living out their convictions.

Thanks, Donna! :hearts :bear2 :love
-
Whew! Caught up again. And I got to thinking about how Amazon only lets me put 40 books per list, and someone might not see that there are three lists (so far!). So I consolidated the lists into a store where they're all in one place. If you go back to the very first post in this thread, you can find a link. I also changed 'blue boarder' to BlueBoarder since I read the thread about it. :D
It's nice that we support one another!

Yup, that one was inspired from life! It's based on little index card booklet I made from my son when he was a frisky four-year old. It gives kids choices rather than rules for coping with feelings of jealousy or being left out and shows them positive ways to ask for what they need. (The original booklet definitely enhanced the peace in our home!)
It's not kid's lit, but I also co-authored a book for parents:
The Unwritten Rules of Friendship: Simple Strategies to Help Your Child Make Friends (Little, Brown)
http://www.amazon.com/Unwritten-Rules-Friendship-Strategies-Friends/dp/0316917303/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245979932&sr=1-1
This one talks about nine typical children who struggle socially and offers suggestions of how parents and teachers can help.

Before I learned a little more about publishing, I printed a MG-ish novel using CreateSpace. (By the time I found out that that's not the best idea if you ever want to be able to sell it to a publisher, people had started buying copies.) I still think it's a good read, so I was wondering whether to mention it in this thread, but I'm not sure whether it's acceptable to list a previous book here if it's not been professionally edited and published.

The Naughty List by Suzanne Young

I'm all caught up...for now! I'm working on Blueboarder List #5. If you go back to the first post in this thread, you'll find all the links to the five lists or you can go directly to the store with all five (so far!) lists:
http://astore.amazon.com/booksbyblueboarders-20
When you list your books for addition to the store, please list the title, too. Usually I can figure it out from the link and not have to click to actually go to the page listing, but not always. Weird abbreviations in some of the links!
Thanks! - Donna

Those links don't seem to be working.
Michael, I've checked most of them on this page and spot checked through p. 5. I got many more hits than misses. I see the thread dates back to 2005, and there are broken links on those older pages. The books may be out of print, or be available elsewhere for anyone who wants to search for them. The list does serve as an historical record of sorts of our BB members' publications. ::-) :books :studia :books3
