Hi everyone,

I have a story that I’ve been playing with variations of quite a bit.  The latest variation would be well fitted to making the MC and secondary characters princesses- but they don’t have to be.  It would be another of many stories of un-princessy princesses.  The MC could also just be a normal girl or a fairy.  The secondary characters could just be part of a wealthy family.  If you can use a very similar plot structure with or without princesses these days, is it more likely to help or hurt your chances?  There just seem to be soooooo many princess stories...

Why restrict yourself to either princesses or real-world? 
How about a genre not often aimed at little girls? 
Like Sci-fi, steampunk, or pirates?

I think you need to step outside the box and find a unique spin. What do the characters need to be to make your story work? Don't just serve it well, serve it spectacularly.
