As a member of SCBWI, you have free access to The Book, the Essential Guide to Publishing which lists all kinds of helpful information such as this--check out the section called "From Keyboard to Printed Page".  You can find it here   https://www.scbwi.org/online-resources/the-book/   Make sure you are logged in to SCBWI first.

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure about the UK--but I think it would be the same as in the US. A typical page is 8 1/2 x 11 with 1" margins using Times New Roman size 12 font. For pasting 10 pages into an e-mail for an agent query, I used to start at the top of the page vs. leaving room on top for the beginning of the novel and the start of each chapter (I'd put it in a new file so I could see how long it was).

Find a great place to stop. If page 10 is the beginning of a new chapter, consider sending 9 pages.

Sales is just one metric. Earning out is another. Making a difference in just one person's life is something you can't put a value on. And saving a life is of infinite value. I don't mean to dismiss your query about what sort of sales one can expect for board books but I've never seen a number. Most board books are priced under $10 so they'd need to sell in the thousands to break even. From my previous research, I know that most books sell fewer than 5,000 copies and go out of print in 2 yrs. I don't know if this is helpful for you to know. But I hope you will have steady sales. :clover

'Paste the first ten pages of your book in the body of your email.'
Can anybody recommend the standard page size and font used in the UK for a middle-grade book?

So a musician friend of mine asked me if he could create music to go along with my children's book. A mutual friend narrated it. It is quite good. I don't know how to proceed with it. I would like to be able to sell it as a download. I appreciate any help.

Nothing here either.  Not sure what to suggest about submitting the story elsewhere yet. Had you submitted as part of the first round back in 2020 or whenever it was, or did you just do the call for submissions in March?
