I read Opposnakes in my 2-4 year old story time yesterday and the kids and parents both loved it! Each set of pages has a double foldout that reveals an opposite snake (such as cold snake/hot snake). The illustrations really take the cake--I think my favorite is the "loud snake" playing the guitar! Love this book, Salina. :goldstar

I haven't seen this one! I'll have to look for it.

Sounds like another winner for Salina. Yay!
(What a great idea for a book!)
-
Sssssounds fun!
-
This book is always checked out at my library too!
-
My kindergartners love Opposnakes so much I had to hide it and now I cannot find!
-
Her books are always the ones pulled off our shelves too. That is one talented lady!
-
I actually have a little collection of some of Salina's books that I hide in my office because I don't want to share with the kids. :whistle

Thanks for alerting me to this thread, Arty! Aw... thanks so much, Amanda, for digging this book out! It's not at all new; an oldie but a goodie, I think! I personally love this book too. Sadly, it totally tanked sales wise. (Less copies than what year it is today). Just tragic, really. But whoever discovers it tells me they love it! The couple of indie stores I visited had it--- which surprised me. I don't think B&N even carried it.
Amanda... another great read aloud for 2-4 yr olds is DO CROCS KISS and DO COWS MEOW (Sterling/2012). My librarian swears by it. She does storytime. They're really quite fun. If you can't get a hold of them, I'm happy to send copies your way. Just PM me with an address.
Thank you all for your support! Totally makes me happy that some of you know my books!!!! :woo
And so funny, you guys,... that you hide my books from your kids!!! :lmao

My kids LOVE Do Crocks Kiss and Do Cows Meow - they also love Deep Sea Dive! Chet (my 5 year old) pulls them off the shelf all the time!! :)
-
Snake books would be a fun way to also talk about Chinese New Year since this week started the Year of the Snake. (The Year of the Water Snake, if you want to get really specific!)

Mine do as well!! And Space Walk!!
Salina, I thought Opposnakes was nominated for an award, wasn't it? I always hear how awesome it is, I'm really surprised that you say it had low sales! It's a cult classic...that's what it is.
-
Thanks for remembering that, Arty! Yes, OPPOSNAKES was a 2009 finalist for the CBC's Children's Choice Book Awards for K-2nd Best Book of the Year. It did not win, but the fact that it was a finalist was amazing! The difficult thing with a major house like S&S is that they have lots of other books to promote once the season passes. It's not their fault. The book just didn't shine on its own. But yeah... really really really bad sales numbers. I was a little shocked. My books are usually not in that range, thank god... or I'd be out of business!
Bobi--- great idea about the snake tie-in with Chinese New Year!
Thanks, girls, for the SPACE WALK and DEEP SEA DIVE shout out! (Again, with Sterling, 2012)

This is why I had to order more copies of p&p because I can't have 22 (hey actually 44) boogery hands all over me shiny copy :love4:

Sorry Shanny, just more mod housekeeping. :mop: You may have noticed increased mod activity and bumping of rule threads etc, and we eliminated a couple boards and combined redundant ones with others...so it has most likely caused post counts to go down again.
:giggle *boogery hands*

Sorry to hear it didn't sell well, Salina. It is a winner, in my book. I will check to see if my new library has the two titles you mentioned, once I get settled in--if not, I'll PM you. Thanks!
