What are some great children's picture books written in verse, besides Dr. Seuss.

I just got one of the greatest PB's in rhyme in the mail yesterday.
Hilda Must Be Dancing
by Karma Wilson
Illustrated by Suzanne Watts

After checking this book out from the library and renewing it 3 times my four year old and I decided it was one worthy of our at home library! A story about a hippo who loves to dance but is driving the other animals crazy. They introduce her to many different things that just did not satisfy her need to be dancing! From the wonderful rhyme to the bright illustrations this book will tickle your senses!

I agree with many mentioned here already, but Sandra Boynton's books always come to mind as great read alouds for little ones.  Of course, they're board books, not pbs.

My daughter really loved Dinosaur Rumpus - I wish I could remember the author's name. It was great... big long dinosaur names, playful pics, great meter and rhyme - even a chorus!

I just got ESTELLE TAKES A BATH, by Jill Esbaum and it is fabulous!

I love Karma Wilson's BEAR SNORES ON, and read it regularly for a reminder of the kind of book I'd love to create.

I'm also a big fan of two fellow blue-boarders' books - Shelly Becker's MINE, MINE, MINE! and Della Ross Ferreri's HOW WILL I EVER SLEEP IN THIS BED?

My kids and I love many of the books already listed in this thread, but I wanted to put in a vote for an oldy that my son is reading to us now -- A  Fly Went By, by Mike McClintock.  It was first published in 1958; we're reading the 1986 reprint and both kids think it's really funny.

Like many others here, I love Karma Wilson's Bear books.  I have all of them.  Snow Dance by Lezlie Evans is also really cute, and I think one of my favorite rhyming PB's is I Know a Rhino by Charles Fuge.  When it comes to board books, I have to agree with Susie that Sandra Boynton's books are a top choice.  I also love John Butlers's books, Hush, Little Ones, and Can You Cuddle Like a Koala?  I know he has more out there, but I haven't read them yet.

What about "Farmer Brown Goes Round and Round?"  It's wonderful, with all the animals' sounds getting mixed up by a tornado.  I'll look up the author and post it later.

"Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich" by Adam Rex.

It's a themed collection for older kids (especially old kids like me). 

By the way, some great suggestions here. Just treated myself (and my daughter) to a little Amazon book shopping spree. Woohoo!
