Just added my review on Goodreads:
I ADORE this book! Mike Jung's debut middle grade sci-fi novel is a treat--full of adventure, giant robots, and lines that made me laugh out loud. At the helm is main character Vincent Wu--the lovable, self-deprecating fan of Captain Stupendous, the local spandex-clad superhero who's suddenly turned soft. I loved Polly's character, as well--the object of Vincent's sweet middle grade crush (just don't tell Vincent I said that...). She's strong and opinionated and sets the record straight on what makes a real super hero.
As an elementary school librarian, I get requests all the time from girls who want to read a book with a bit of romance, and this one fits the bill for this age group--innocent infatuation without being mushy. Although Vincent would never admit this in a million years, boys will enjoy this plot line, as well. I'll also hand this book to boys for the superhero, swashbuckling action, which Polly would say is just as much for girl readers as it is for the boys.
The only drawback to this book is that it isn't out until October, so my students will have to listen to me talking it up for a whole month before they can check it out!
