I really liked That Yucky Love Thing by Micheal Catchpool. Henry in Love by Peter McCarty, and Slugs in Love by Susan Pearson are cute love theme books not about parent - child relationships.

I agree that Salina Yoon's PENGUIN books could fit the bill. They're warm, and sweet, and touching without being overly saccharine.

For something with a slightly dark twist, there's MY MONSTER MAMA LOVES ME SO.

Also, HOW DO DINOSAURS SAY I LOVE YOU, I'D KNOW YOU ANYWHERE MY LOVE, and SOMEDAY.
