I recently ordered A Cookie for Santa and Backhoe Joe from Scholastic for my class. My kindergarten students love your books, Stephanie and Lori - I do too!  The Sparrow and the Trees has been a gift we keep sharing in our class, Sharon!

I am giving my kindergarten students The Biggest Snowman Ever by Steven Kroll for their gift this year.

The Silmarillion -J. R. R. Tolkien for my son  - we are huge Tolkien fans at our house!

Thank you for these lists! I still have to buy a few gifts for some young people, so this is great. I was at a mystery conference earlier this year, and I ended up buying a bunch of books there (and getting the authors to sign them!) As one fellow writer has posted on FB recently, a signed book makes a great gift!

I had such a hard time choosing this year. Here's my list for my growing troop of nieces and nephews. The downside of having a huge family: I'm going to go broke buying books! The upside: I get to pick out and pass along LOTS of great books!! The upside definitely wins.
