Hi, All,
Just thought I’d recap the Blueboard stats for you so you can see how things are going on the board. Averages are since the inception of the board - September 1, 2003.
When the Blueboard started it had about 100 members and three months later it had 190 members (by the end of December). We had a massive influx of spammers registering in 2011 and 2012 - over 500 of them a day. (Every single one of which needed to be checked by hand by one of the five existing Administrators!) That’s when the SMF forum was changed from version 1 to version 2.0, which had much better spam blockers.
As of today:
There are 5,862 active Blueboard members and 4484 of those are current SCBWI members. :-)
At this moment there are 91 users on the message board, 16 of them are registered users, the rest are guests (unregistered people looking at just the open parts of the board). 7 of the registered users are Administrators and Moderators and 2 of the guests are spammers attempting to register. (They will not get through to the board, due to the diligence of the Administrators in checking the IP addresses of EVERY applicant against the Stop Spam Forum’s list of known spammers.)
There are 303,680 posts on 163 boards. (This Blueboard is BIG.) The average posts per day (since 2003) is just over 219. Average page views per day (since 2003) is 22,680.
To see the history of the board since it began, click on More Stats at the bottom of the board in the Forum Stats section of the board.
https://www.scbwi.org/boards/index.php?action=stats
Note that page view totals are unavailable for the first year because the board didn’t begin counting them until 2004.

I love those stats, Verla. The Blueboards have been such a big part of my writing life. So big, in fact, that I became a moderator because I wanted to give back to the community. Thank you for making this board what it is!
-
It's amazing, Verla! And so good to be reminded of all the hard work going on behind the scenes. Thanks to all of you. :yourock
-
That's so cool, Verla! You can see how well-loved this place is. Thanks for all you do! :love5
-
:curtsy :curtsy :curtsy :curtsy :curtsy :curtsy :curtsy (from all of the Administrators and Moderators of the Blueboard - there are 23 of us that are on here, working every day, seven days a week, to keep this board a safe and friendly place for everyone.)
-
Many thanks to the moderators for keeping me out of potentially sticky situations.

We do our best to help anyway we can, Spence. :)

That is amazing, Verla! Thanks for bringing the Blueboard to us. :truck2

I note that even after all this time, no one has caught up with me yet on Time Spent On the Boards, or whatever it's called.
-
Had to go and look at how much time you've spent on the boards, AM ... hmm I see your number of posts, but not the amount of time. Curious!
BTW, didn't that amount change a couple of times due to board updates and spammers?
Just looked at my stats. I joined the board 4 months after the board started. I've learned so much here over the years.
Thank you to all the moderators and administrators (now and in the past) for all your hard work!
And thank you to all the members who have participated, shared their wisdom, and shared a few laughs too!
Here's to a wonderful 12.5 years and hopefully another 12.5 around the water cooler of kidlit :wc
-
I wish there was a list of all the very first members. I joined early, but I'm not exactly sure when, but I think it was in those first days. :-)
-
I am not exaggerating when I say that this board has helped me more than any other. And spam...uh, what spam?
Thank you, members, for sharing your experiences and wisdom. And thanks to administrators and moderators not only for the same, but for the effort you put forth to keep this a supportive, friendly, spam-free community.
:love5
-
Thanks to all the admins and mods who keep it all going by putting in a tremendous amount of work! :yourock
-
Thanks for the stats, Verla. I loved looking at them and I love the BBoards. I owe them and you so much. :thankyou

KatyD, if you click on the Members>View Members link in the menu at the top of the board and then on Date Registered, it will list all of the current members in the order in which they joined the Blueboard - beginning with me on September 1, 2003.
The date you joined is also listed in your profile. You joined on September 1, 2003 - the day this board was created. Administrators can see the number you were originally assigned when you joined the board. You are #16, the 16th person to join the Blueboard. (Man! You are :old. :lol5)
The most recent person to join the board is #83297. (Inactive people are regularly purged from the board to make room for active participants, which is why there are currently only 5,000+ people on the board, even though over 83,000 have registered for the board.)

Thank you :verla for starting the most awesome kidlit community EVER! I just checked my registered date and March 28th will be 7 years! During that time I have learned so much from all of you, made amazing friends, and had many great laughs along the way!
These boards are like home. :love5
-
This is neat. I have loved being a part of all of this. I learn so much every day!
-
I love seeing these stats, Verla. Thanks for sharing--and for creating such an amazing community that feels like home to so many people.
I fell in love with the Blueboard the moment I discovered it in 2005. :flowers2
I'm still extremely grateful for the awesome spam blockers that make finding real registrations a zillion times easier. Verla--you're always finding ways to make this incredible board even more amazing. I'd love to know how many writers and illustrators are published because of all the amazing info, support, critiques, etc. they've received here.
Anne Marie--do you mean total time logged in? I'm always in awe of how much time I spend on here, but have a feeling you've been here way more days than me. I'm up to 134 days, 21 hours and 3 minutes.

Yes, it's total time logged in. When I was an administrator, I just left the window open all the time, even if I wasn't on. I think I have something like 400 days.
-
Thanks, Verla. I wonder who all these anonymous visitors are?
-
I would be a much lonelier writer without the Blueboards. Thanks to everyone involved - mods and users.
-
:hurrah for the Blueboard!!!
Thank you, Verla, for creating the very best community in the entire world of kidlit! :wc :love5 :love5 :love5
AM, I do that too -- but I'm only up to 154 days since I joined in...2009?
As my 9yo likes to say, Blueboard Power! :batman

I've got six years on you. You'll catch up.

:lol4 That's true!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing those stats, Verla. The BB has been my online home for 12 years now. Wow, time flies when you're in great company:) :flowers2
-
I joined this awesome community on August 24, 2011. It was a pivotal moment for me--I stopped lurking and stepped forward, identified myself as A Writer and began taking my craft much more seriously, versus someone "thinking about becoming" a writer.
I love this place so much! Thank you, Verla! :love5 And thank you admins and mod squad! :grouphug2

:wow :wow :wow
Those are impressive stats, Verla!
Every single one is a tribute to your dedication & the dedication of all the moderators & others working behind the scenes!
:ty ALL!!

The stats are amazing. I rarely check them ... because you know, I really feel like a procrastinator, but I learn new things here every day since the day I joined way back in 2004.
Thank you to :verla and this amazing community!!!

Just as everyone has posted, the BBs have become a part of my life I couldn't do without; it's the first place I go on the internet after the email check. There is such a wealth of helpful and useful information and the mods go above and beyond to keep us all safe and enlightened--thank you :thankyou :thankyou all for your hard work. It is a secure and welcoming community, and I am always pleased to recommend it to new writers.
With grateful aloha,
Tori :palmtree :pizza

Tammi, proud member since September 8, 2004 ::-)
I just checked. My first post was about a personal rejection.

Verla,
Thank you for creating such an awesome resource for children's writers and illustrators! Thank you also to all the admins who keep the boards running, friendly, and useful!
