Hi SCBWI Florida members! Welcome to our new boards. We can discuss issues here, post good news and make announcements. This will be a good place to reach all of us and give us your thoughts about conferences and events you might like. By the way, the Florida Regional Conference is shaping up beautifully. The dates are Jan. 17-19, 2014 and the location is Miami. The keynote speakers the Chris Crutcher, Sara Pennypacker and Lois Duncan. Andrea Davis Pinkney will help us present the Crystal Kite to Augusta Scattergood and the theme of the costume gala is Steampunk.

Luv2eatreadwrite: Yes, there is a chapter here. We have a meeting coming up this Saturday, August 24th from 2:00-4:00 at the Bloomingdale Library in Brandon. We meet about every other month, and the lectures are like mini-seminars. Some stay longer and break into critique groups at the end of the meeting.

The region is all of Florida except for the counties west of Tallahassee. We do have sub-groups in a few areas - Tampa Bay happens to be the most active. Tammi, you are considered an honorary Florida member! We love having you here. You too, Stephanie!

Actually, I'm trying to set up regional meetings all around the state and I'm looking for volunteers to help coordinate meetings in the Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Naples/Ft. Myers areas. If you're interested, send me an email! I'll provide the speaker if you can find a location.

Hello, all! An official Florida board--this is WAY cool! :-)

As some of you know, I'm a recent transplant to north Florida. It's been a crazy year, with not much of an end in sight yet, but I definitely want to become more active in the region. I often volunteered in Arkansas and really enjoyed it.

Linda, I'm not far from Jacksonville, and when things settle down, I could probably help with something in this neck of the woods. Thanks for all you do to keep the Florida region hoppin'!

Christy--we "officially" moved last November, but due to some major illnesses in the family, we've probably spent as much time in Arkansas as we have in Florida in the last nine months. But we do LOVE Florida. :-)
