Title: Astra International Picture Book Writing Contest
Post by: paula-morrow on October 24, 2021, 08:42 PM: The winners of this contest were supposed to be announced on their website "on or about" October 1, but as of today (10/24) the most recent post on their site is dated 4/13, and it just announces a new contest.
Anyone know anything about this outfit? The contest was on this Blueboard in January, so I assumed they're legit, but now I'm wondering ...

That said, thank you for the reminder about this. I had forgotten about my submission.

Paula, we aren't able to vet each individual post for legitimacy. https://www.scbwi.org/boards/index.php?topic=41123.0

The thread linked above mainly pertains to being careful before you sign contracts, but in the beginning of the first post, Verla states that neither SCBWI nor the Blueboard endorse or vet anyone offering a service, prize, etc., other than for adherence to our general rules. It's on each individual to do their own research, always.

Post by: HaroldU on October 31, 2021, 10:41 AM: Just to add, in response to Paula and others who may have had concerns about the Astra contest, Astra Publishing House is the company of which Astra Young Readers (formerly Boyds Mills Press), Calkins Creek, Wordsong, Kane Press (where I work), minedition, and Hippo Park make up the Astra BFYR children's division. We are legit.!
