Oh Maggie,

I know that you are awesome, but Shiver took your awesomeness to a whole new level!  I just finished the book and I am so totally in love with it (and I don't love books easily)!  Can't wait for Linger and Forever.  Now I gotta get my hands on a copy of Ballad!

Yay, Lesley! So happy you loved it!!!

Hahahah!! There are FAR WORSE THINGS that getting messages from people who loved your book! Like just about everything is worse than that! :D

I just have to chime in here and say HOW MUCH I truly loved this book.  There are so few books, (like, seriously, maybe two others ever) that make me cry and I think I stopped counting after the third time I cried reading Shiver.  I am in awe of the atmosphere you created with the book.  Even though I read it in July, it felt like winter was coming on everytime I sat down to read. And the poetic-ness (is that a word?) of the prose!  You made me rethink every word I've ever written and am planning to write. Your wolf mythology totally inspired me to write the paranormal romance that, like your wolves, doesn't follow the "conventional" rules, for nanowrimo. It's an idea I've had in my head forever but was always afraid to try.

On another note, despite the awesome threads you laid down for the continuing story in Linger, I think I'm like one of the only people that doesn't want there to be another book because I don't think I can bear to see Sam and Grace suffer anymore!  LOL Although I'm really excited to see what happens with the wolf pack leadership coup (that in my mind) I imagine will happen in the next book.  (Not that this has stopped me from repeatedly checking amazon to see if I can pre-order it yet!)

Anyway, yeah, I'm totally embarrassing myself now so I will shut up and just finish with: awesome book, I promise not to stalk you.

:star2Maggie, I loved your book, read it in a day (after I propped it on my shelf and stared at the amazing cover for half a day) and gave it to my sister.  Now I am bugging her to hurry up and finish it so I can read it again, slower this time!

Also I may have gotten you a radio plug.  The morning lady DJ I listen to, who has sons in college, is obsessed with Twilight and depressed about finishing the last book (she mentioned this on the radio, and talks about Twilight on the radio a few times a week).  So I emailed her about Shiver and how she'll love it, that it is about forbidden love, werewolves, a series, and a movie coming out, etc.  She emailed me back, very excited to look for it over the weekend.  This lady kind of has the Oprah touch with books, with her listeners, in our area.  :bubblebath

Wow, this is brilliant! even if nothing comes of it, it's brilliant that you passed the word along like that. THANK YOU. Have I mentioned how weird it is to have a book that people tell their friends about!?

NO WAY. Seriously? Wow.

Do you have any idea when they might start? Are you nervous?

Heck, I would be. I don't think I'd feel very comfortable putting my characters and my world into the hands of someone else. Especially when it comes to like... casting and stuff. Man, I'd be such a biatch about that.

I'm actually very laid back about it. For starters, it's really early in the game and so anything could happen. And then, it's a totally different thing from my books. I've written the books. I'm cool with how they turned out. The movie? I don't have total control over it so I am very chill. ;)

Check this out, I was at a gas station this afternoon. It had those video screens blaring advertisements above the pumps, and somehow, amidst all the shady investment commercials and B-movie trailers there was a spot about Halloween books, and what do you think was the featured book? Yep, SHIVER. At a gas station. I found this tremendously entertaining.

Serious! It showed a tabletop display of Halloweenish books, with SHIVER among them. I couldn't actually hear what was being said - gas station video setups are apparently unreliable, go figure - but there was a full-screen shot of the SHIVER cover, during which I assume something was being said about it, and after darting frantically around a bunch of the other covers it gave one more quick shot of your cover as it faded to black.

I should really have a more professional thought about it than that, but that's about what my brain is doing right now. I'm proud of myself for not letting moths fly into my open mouth.

Shiver as a Halloween book?

I suppose werewolves = scary even if they really are sweet, sexy boys.   :ha

Well, maybe they weren't all sweet (read: Jack).

That's so awesome about the film rights! Congrats. I think it would make a gorgeous movie if they do it right!

My sis returned my copy to me and I was all ready to re-read it!  Then hubby saw it and I said "No you don't, buddy!  It's mine."  Sigh.  He's a trucker and he has a long wait tomorrow at a stop.  So my copy is headed to Oregon, without its cover. I need to stare at is some more.  Its a knick knack in my house right now as it is so beautiful.  Did anyone else not notice the wolf on the cover right away?  I had looked at the cover quite a few times and never noticed it.  And then one day, bam-I notice it. Its like the wolf snuck up on me from behind that tree.  I know, I am weird.   :duh

I didn't see it at first either. I forget how I ended up finding it. I may have been staring at the cover (I love running my fingers over the words-- and you thought you were weird, lol) or maybe I just happened to glance at the right spot. I like the little peeping wolf.

Maggie's Ballad is an awesome Halloween book! That one should have been at the gas station, too. I think we need a thread for Ballad. I didn't see one.

Right after I found him I went on to look for other hidden things, but I couldn't find any. Well, I did find a little bushy tail on the inside flap... if that counts. I suppose any other secrets might take away from the significance of the wolf, but I checked anyway.
