'Scuse the newbie question, but can someone tell me what is a "concept book"?

I've seen the term a couple of times recently and was just going through the SCBWI market survey and found a couple of publishers saying "no concept books" so I thought I would check to make sure mine isn't one!

A concept book is a book designed to teach children concepts. Like opposites, or colors or the alphabet.

What Artemesia said. Concept books don't typcially have a plot, they simply share information.

At least I can safely say that my book is NOT a concept book.

It's nonfiction. Typically they are written for the young end of the picture book range (e.g., Tana Hoban's books). But there are concept books for older kids--and if I can remember any titles I'll come back and post them.

Except "What Do You Do With A Tail Like This?" because it is simple rhyme. Yes??
