Hi! Can you explain a bit more what you mean by "advanced?" For an "older" age group than birth-8 or so?

fiction or non-fiction?
by advanced do you mean something that could be used in 3-5th grades? in this case it would most likely have to be of the non-fiction variety.

Personally. I love "North star"

and "Rose's garden" . Both are by Peter.H.Reynolds and have are very layered. Older readers can definitely diver deeper.

Some of Eve Bunting's and Patricia Polacco's should fit.
Many of the books that tackle emotional issues, like death, are meant for older readers. I remember one on homelessness, but not the title or author.
