SCBWI's Blueboard - A Message & Chat Board

Where are you (in the book you are reading)

Discussion started on

Saw this on another board and thought it would be fun for here.

Where are you (in time and space) in the book you are currently reading? If you think other people might guess the title from your description, leave it off and let them guess.

I am in Southeast Utah at the turn of the last century.

I'm in contemporary San Francisco, although it's a little different from the real contemporary San Francisco. Weird stuff happening.

I am in an alternate, ancient Asian kingdom, having just arrived in a 500-year old temple quite unlike the Stone Temple of Hansong. Seriously bad guys are after my whole traveling party and I am very tired.

IRL I am supposed to be getting caught up in political intrigue on a volcanic Caribbean island in the 1970s, because that's the book my book group is reading, but the other book is a LOT more fun.

What a cool thread!

Currently between books, but most recently, I was in present-day Mokia (the Free Kingdoms as opposed to the Hushlands), hiding from stern looking people in horn-rimmed glasses.

I'm about to travel back to a remote, economically depressed island off the Irish coast in the 1930s because I need to reread a book for my book club (thanks for the reminder, Anne!) I will, however, steer clear of cliffs and any spooky horses with sharp teeth...

I'm in another land, time undetermined, and a Snake with a capital S has just spoken to another character.
Just finished another where I was in contemporary New Hampshire and one of the characters was very cold throughout the book.

Fun game!

I'm stuck in a little fortified camp down the valley from an enormous, groaning glacier, and the food's running out, and I'm not sure what year it is, but for sure it's very long ago!

I have been to Copperplate City! And I'm pretty sure I've been to the glacier, too--at least, if it involves Scandinavian mythology. :)

Very creepy, TH! I keep going back and forth between a summer camp in a small NY town in 1974 and NY City in 2004.

I think I know what a couple of you are reading, based on these descriptions and I'm dying to know if I'm right. Do we ever get to find out?

Me too. Love both Great Brain and Junie B. :) and guessed them.

I'm reading the Evidential Power of Beauty by Thomas Dubay and Life of Christ by Fulton Sheen -- I figured some of you would guess the second one.
