Title: Twitter PBpitch- first person MS help
Post by: tricia-thatcher on October 20, 2020, 08:02 AM
I’m wanting to participate in my first Twitter PBpitch Party, but I’m not sure how to go about it with a first person manuscript. My MC is a forest animal, but I left it to the illustrator’s imagination, so the MC has no name and no specifics, just a voice. Now I don’t know how to pitch it 🤦🏻‍♀️. Any tips are appreciated!

Hmmmm, I wonder if you could just state something like "Forest Animal . . . "

It might also be helpful to read book jackets of PBs with unspecified MCs to see how the description of the book is worded.

If I think of anything else that might be helpful, I'll let you know!

I would assume you had an animal in mind when you wrote it though, right? I mean there's a difference between an elephant, a tiger and a mouse.

Why not just choose an animal that generally fits the size and demeanor you want? If an editor or illustrator wants to change it, no problem.
