Hi!
Just wondering at what point we newbies are approved and can answer and send pm's? I've gotten a couple of messages, but can't respond.
Thanks! And--thanks for a great site and message board Verla!

I wish there was a way we could at least respond to PMs. Or send an auto-reply that says we can't--I don't want people thinking I'm rude.

Anyone who has been around here at all should know you can't respond. Trust me, we really don't want new people sending PMs (not you personally, but if you'd been here about 18 months ago for the porn spammer, you'd understand). If you feel it's important enough, you could always make your email public (at least a free gmail or hotmail account that you use for this purpose) and let people contact you that way.

People won't think you are rude. Everyone who can send PM's knows that they couldn't respond to them at first. All they have to do is look at the number of posts in any of your messages and they will know you can't respond. Here's what I recommend in the meantime: Go to Off Topic/Other Stuff and post a message to the person acknowledging that you received the message and letting them know your preferred way of being contacted again.
WARNING! If you plan to post an email addy, be sure to "warp" it in some way so spammers won't recognize it as a real email addy. Examples:
Send your message to me@REMOVEmyemail.com or me<@symbol goes here>email.com or ... Well, you get the idea, right? Fool those spam bots by being creative. :moose

I wonder how many posts you need to have in order to see profiles?

Here's a thread about that: http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php?topic=25718.0
I thought we had sticky topics about these things . . . Maybe we need to create some.

Thanks, everyone. :) I didn't mean to whine. :sheep

How do I know how many posts I've done? I've been a member for a long time, and I am still restricted.
