Title: Holiday-themed Submissions
Post by: SusanB on July 02, 2010, 02:01 PM
Does anyone know what the lead time is for holiday-themed submissions? Is it too late to send Halloween and Christmas stories?

I think most magazines work at least 6 months in advance. But some buy whenever and hold for when they need it.

Each magazine is different. If you can look at Writers Market or Children's Writers Market books, check there for lead times.   :goodluck

Highlights accepts holiday and seasonal material year round.  Others do have a deadline.  Be sure to check the guidelines.

One more thing, remember there are plenty of other holidays!  I've had a couple of Christmas stories published, but also one for the 4th of July and one for Veterans Day.  Magazines like stories for all kinds of holidays, even Arbor Day, and I think they get fewer submissions for some of those.   :typing
