Title: Whathappendinmybirthyear - A fun research tool!
Post by: AnnH on September 18, 2010, 09:29 AM
http://whathappenedinmybirthyear.com/  (http://whathappenedinmybirthyear.com/)

You can type in a year (not sure how far back it goes, as it's really for checking what happened in the year of your birth, but can be helpful in some cases at least), and it brings up all kinds of information about what happened that year.

It types it out s-l-o-w-l-y, but I found that if you start to go to another url, a message box pops up saying it will instantly print out the whole thing if you hit "cancel" on the box.

LOL, I love how the screen darkens as the numbers of the years roll backwards. 1987 was truly the Dark Ages! :P

Also, look how it began:

In 1987, the world was a different place.

There was no Google yet. Or Yahoo. Or Verlakay, for that matter

I think it must have detected that I clicked on a link from verlakay.com.  :lol2

Thanks for the link, AnnH, it's fun & informative. And it seems to have data for years back into at least the '20s, which is really useful!
