Title: tooth hole
Post by: CaroleB on May 24, 2012, 10:51 AM
Need a word. Any ideas of what to call the hole/space in a kid's mouth when they lose their front teeth? I don't want to use the words hole or space. It needs to be one syllable.

I'm guessing there are no words for that, but there should be.
Do your kids call it something?

gap?  :eh2

no idea if there is an actual word. I hear kids use the word hole, but I guess I see why you'd want to avoid it.

We call it a "gap" in my house. "The gap between your teeth."

We used to say that you had a 'window'......a great place to stick a straw and sip a soda!  And really good for spitting!

Hah! My little spittle window? I love that, but it won't work.

I thought of using gap, Arty, but it's not going to work either.
The pb is finicky.

I'm open to made up words. See why I spend so much thinking? I need a new word dictionary.
We need to make up a word.

hmmm, are you talking more specifically about the hole the tooth came out of, or the space in the teeth??

is it a rhymer? can you give us just the line from the verse you need the word in? or just a bit of surrounding context? might be easier to help if we had more info.

I'm talking about the space left when the tooth falls out, Arty.  I was thinking about trying to work it into one of my pbs, but will hold off for now.

Thanks guys!

"Spit pit", hehee.
