Title: Quick volleyball question
Post by: J-Bert on August 26, 2012, 11:06 AM
Do 7th grade volleyball players have team uniforms? (I seem to recall jersey tops that had numbers and spandex shorts from my youth, but that was high school.) Would they wear any part of their uniform to school on a game day to show team pride? Or would they do anything else, like paint school letters on their cheek or wear school color ribbons in their hair?

My daughter is a volleyball player (just graduated high school) and the answer to your question is yes, they do wear team uniforms. They can wear their jerseys on game day or or dress up in some other way. Team Ribbons are big in volleyball, so they might all wear the same ribbons, or do something else that is a coordinated team effort.

At our high school, the girls volleyball team always dresses up on game days. Skirts, dresses, even heels. Football players wear their jerseys on game days, cheerleaders dress up. B'ball players wear ties on game days. But yes, totally believable to have that sort of team camaraderie.

Here the uniforms are saved for the court, but the players are expected to dress up on game days. Last year, a couple moms made hair scrunchies with ribbons in school colors for all of the girls on the team. A lot of those were worn to school. Face paint was saved for homecoming week.

My daughter played vball and they still had to wear school uniforms on game days and just changed into the vball uniform for the game.  Ribbons are a big deal, and matching socks are too.
that could be because it was catholic school.  Even in middle school when they just wore normal shorts, the shorts were not that modest.  and high school spandex doesn't need to be seen ever, but esp anywhere not on the court.  the catholic school wanted modesty.
