Title: Kid's Imagination Train
Post by: Nanci on July 04, 2013, 10:36 PM
Hi all,
I have been looking around online at a few e-zines. One that I came across is Kid's Imagination
Train, and I haven't found any posts here about that one (unless I just missed them
somehow), and wondering if anyone may have any info or experience with this e-zine.

I know the editor personally in real life (a little) and would say she's reliable. She helped organize a regional SCBWI Editor's Day in our area a few years ago.

The ezine just recently became a paying market.

Thank you, Ev.
Do you know what the response time is?
I didn't see that on the site.

Sorry, Nanci, I don't know about response times.

If it's been a while since you subbed, I would status query. Sometimes things get lost in cyberspace.

Thanks, Ev. I will keep that in mind. Mine is a recent sub.

Thanks, Nancy, for sharing the ezine, and Ev for letting us know the editor is reliable. Love the sharing on these boards.

I actually had an acceptance from them last week (under a week turn around time and very helpful editor!!) And currently sent back a revision request this week.
My experience with them has been wonderful.

Hi Ev, Bobi, and Savannah,
I received an R this morning for my poem, boo hoo.
But gosh, this editor is just so nice.
Somehow she can make an R feel like
an email from an old friend, or something.
She wrote that my rhyme is perfect, and the story cute,
but that the ending did not work for her.
So nice that she took the time to do that.
And very fast response, about a week.

Update: The editor worked with me on revisions, and the poem I previously mentioned has now been accepted. Completely agree, Savannah - my experience with this magazine and editor has been great.  :fireworks

Yay, Nanci! I'm so pleased to hear this happy outcome to your submission. :partytime
Here's wishing you many, many more such wonderful acceptances.

I also just had a poem accepted (on July 16th). The editor is very nice (and as Savannah said "helpful"). She was at Stories for Children at one time.

An additional thing I like about the publication is that they encourage children to submit illustrations that could run with your piece. I think this is a great way to encourage reading and creativity in children.

Nanci and Savannah, congrats on your acceptances. Mine will published in the February 2014 issue. Let us know when yours are published.

Hi AzGuy,
We may be neighbors.
I'm in Tucson.
Congrats to you, too, on your acceptance.
I was told that mine will appear in a spring
2014 issue.

Congrats to Nanci and AZGuy. (Must be an AZ thing, because I live here too).
I loved my experience working with KIT. I learned a lot about my writing.
My stories will appear in the Winter issue and the January issue.

Howdy fellow Arizonans Savannah and Nanci! I also live in Tucson - on the west side near Speedway and Greasewood,  where the javelina roam and the coyotes howl and the skies are mostly sunny all day (though we have had some good monsoon activity this month).

Hi AZGuy,
Oh, I am envious. I am near Sabino Canyon, and we haven't
received much rain at all. I wait, and wait, and wait, sometimes
hear a bit of thunder...but then either nothing, or just a few
drops. Too frustrating, but fingers crossed for a good August
monsoon out this way.
I haven't seen javelinas in a while, but saw a cute coyote
the other evening. Love that!

Nanci, I love Sabino Canyon. One of the most beautiful places in Arizona.

AZguy,
It really is gorgeous, for sure.
Not long after moving here from IL
we did the tram ride, and saw a gila
monster scoot from the road into the
brush - could hardly believe our eyes.
Such beauty and interesting wildlife.
I am such a lucky duck to live so near.
