Title: How long before nudging my expert?
Post by: AmandaSue on December 03, 2013, 07:34 PM
I've had a nf article all written and polished for close at least a month now. I've just been waiting for my expert to review it and give me the okay. I've e-mailed him twice already because I thought maybe he didn't get the first e-mail. He responded to the second and asked me to give him a couple days to read it.

It's been more than two weeks now. When should I nudge again? I don't want to be annoying, but I really want to get this thing in the mail.

Nudge again, giving a(n early) deadline. I suggest you tell him the deadline is a week or so ahead of what is actually. Also, consider finding another, speedier expert.

I wish I could find another expert, but the article is pretty much about him so...yeah. haha  I will nudge again. He's been so quick before now. He must just be busy.

Amanda,

I had a similar thing happen this summer. I didn't hear anything back from my expert, and low and behold, she emailed me out of the blue letting me know she'd had extenuating family circumstances and had been away from work. Yikes!

I hope that's not the case, but another nudge is certainly fair. I've even had one source tell me to keep bugging him because "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." These folks are often busy people.

Good luck!
